How to Apply for a FIVA ID Card

Locally Registered Vehicles

How to Apply

  1. Contact a Local Scrutineer

  2. Book an Inspection with the Scrutineer

    • The scrutineer checks if your vehicle meets FIVA criteria:

      • At least 30 years old

      • Maintained in historically correct condition

      • Not used for daily transport

  3. Complete Forms & Photos with the Scrutineer

    • Application form + club membership form (if not a member)

    • Several photos of your vehicle taken by scrutineer

  4. Pay the Fees

    • FIVA ID Card: €100

    • Inspection: €35

    • Club Membership: Up to €30

    • Total: €165

  5. Receive Your FIVA ID Card

    • Issued within ~2 weeks

    • Printed on high-quality, embossed material and delivered with FIVA QR Code Windshield Sticker

Benefits

  • 65% road tax reduction for no restriction on weekday and weekend use (not as a daily driver)

  • €25 annual road tax for use ONLY on weekends, public holidays & classic car events

  • Possible lower insurance rates from participating insurance companies

Imported Vehicles (Over 30 Years Old)

Before You Import

  • Contact the Road Transport Department to confirm import requirements and necessary documents.

  • Check the vehicle’s eligibility for FIVA ID Card with a local scrutineer before buying.

Process After Arrival

  1. Inspection by Scrutineer

    • Scrutineer verifies the vehicle meets FIVA criteria:

      • 30+ years old

      • Historically correct condition

      • Not for daily use

  2. Application & Payment

    • Complete forms and pay €165 (same fee breakdown as locally registered vehicles)

  3. Confirmation Document

    • Presented to Road Transport Department to register the vehicle as classic

    • Registration must be within 6 months of customs clearance

  4. Final FIVA ID Card

    • Issued after Cypriot plates are photographed on the vehicle

    • Arrives ~2 weeks after final submission together with FIVA QR Code Winshield Sticker

Youngtimers (20–29 Years Old)

Eligibility

  • Vehicle age: 20–29 years

  • In good condition and well-preserved

  • Generally used for leisure only

  • May be eligible for a full FIVA ID Card at age 30

Note:

  • The Youngtimer Registration Document may be issued without a physical inspection.

  • Sets requirements for issuing FIVA Registration Numbers, ID Cards, and Youngtimer Documents
